Having recently announced the dates for the upcoming Joburg Film Festival, the team today confirmed the dates and venues for the Youth and Audience Programme, in addition to opening submission for the Young Voices Competition.
The festival, set to run from Tuesday, 27th February to Sunday, 3rd March, brings together filmmakers, industry professionals, and cinema enthusiasts for a celebration of storytelling through the art of film.
The sixth edition of the festival’s Film Programme will this year screen over 60 feature titles, and will also include a dynamic range of audience and industry initiatives and conversations including the Industry Programme, the Youth and Audience Development Programme, the Joburg Film Society and the JBX B2B Content Market.
With the festivals on-going vision to prioritize the growth and development of young South African filmmakers, the Youth and Audience Programme will once again conduct and host a series of skills development / empowerment workshops for young film creatives and content creators in the province.
The outreach programme focuses mainly on young filmmakers without a formal film and television education, training and background with a comprehensive two-day format workshop. The sessions will provide insights into the various disciplines of filmmaking whilst providing attendees with the opportunity to network with industry leaders who present and facilitate these sessions. The programme will conclude with a free screening of Four Walls at the end of the second day.
Session topics include:
Scriptwriting
Acting Workshop
Story and Conceptualisation
Content Creation (on social media)
